In Defense of VOINA
Banksy launched a new print releases on the Pictures on Walls website,
What makes this print release especially interesting is that Banksy has chosen to donate all proceeds from the sale to the legal defense fund of the underground Russian artist collective VOINA. Two of its members are currently in jail in St Petersburg for drawing a massive penis on a bridge opposite KGB headquarters. The action was a protest of police corruption.

50 square meters of the public space
"EPOS 257 camouflaged themselves as city-workers, went to the Palackeho square in Prague and installed a fence.
The fence was left on the square with no apparent intent or explanation.
At first, the city council didn't know about it, and when there were told, they didn't know how to deal with it - what if somebody put it there for a reason?
The fence stayed for 54 days before being removed."
"Blu Gets Buffed"
Italian street artist Blu, whose MOCA sponsored anti-war mural was removed from the wall of the Geffen Contemporary building last week before the public could see it.
According to Blu:
1. Moca asks me to paint a mural
2. I go to L.A. to paint the piece and I almost finish it
3. the Moca director decides to erase the wall
4. on the next day the mural is erased by Moca workers
5. journalists are still not sure if this can be called censorship
so they start asking my opinion about that
“MOCA commissioned Blu, one of the world’s most outstanding street artists to create a work for the north wall of The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA. The Geffen Contemporary building is located on a special, historic site. Directly in front the north wall is the Go For Broke monument, which commemorates the heroic roles of Japanese American soldiers, who served in Europe and the Pacific during World War II, and opposite the wall is the LA Veterans’ Affairs Hospital. The museum’s director explained to Blu that in this context, where MOCA is a guest among this historic Japanese American community, the work was inappropriate. MOCA has invited Blu to return to Los Angeles to paint another mural.”
